How to take care of your Fresh Flower Arrangement
Fresh flowers are generally received in 3 distinct arrangements:
- Vase of clear water
- Basket or container with floral foam
- Boxed or wrapped in cellophane or florist paper.
Fresh flowers need care and the better you care for them, the longer they last.
- Never leave the arrangement in direct sun or in a hot or freezing cold room. Keep the flowers away from drafts and candles.
- In a vase arrangement the water must be changed every 3 days and the stems can be given a fresh cut. Flowers take up a lot of water during the first few days and less as time passes.
-For arrangement in floral foam top up with water daily. It is
advised that you fill the container at a sink and dry the bottom before placing them anywhere. Do not place
on wooden table top.
- An arrangement of boxed or wrapped flowers needs to be placed in water
immediately after unpacking. Remove the flowers from the box or wrapping, clean off the foliage
that goes below the water level, cut the stems with a knife or sharp scissors
and place in water.
